We will try to address this issue today by dishing out possible ways to remedy the situation. But that will come once we’ve followed up with a few key pointers on the basics.

Self-Evaporating Air Conditioners: How it compares to traditional air conditioners?
A traditional air conditioner or unit doesn’t just cool the confined space. In fact, it also takes out the moisture from the space, which is one of the reasons for people to buy air conditioners than to go with other cooling options.
And that’s where the self-evaporating units come in.
Your regular air conditioner can remove moisture from the air within a closed space. No doubt there.
But with the traditional units, the moisture which is removed from the enclosed environment (water vapor to be exact) needs draining. For this reason, such units have drain pans in order to drain the liquid from the unit.
But that’s not a problem with self-evaporating air-cooling units.
It completely eliminates the need for a drip pan. The excess water that originates from the space is simply processed (evaporation or dispersion) and used for cooling the internals. The amount that’s left is released into the air.
This mechanism is one of the reasons for self-evaporating air conditioners to be called ‘no-drip’ cooling units.
Among some of the other advantages of having a portable self-evaporating air conditioning unit are:

- The possibility of auto-shutdown because of a full drip pan is minimal.

Water Evaporation Problem in Portable Air Conditioner: What should I do?
One of the main functionalities of portable air conditioners is the release of excess water during the cooling process. This eliminates the need for any proper draining system.
But if the weather conditions are suitable enough, then there may be problems like the following:
Weather condition: Humidity check
The first thing you need to understand here is what we mean by “Suitable Weather Conditions”.
Suitable weather would be a tolerable amount of humidity. Usually, 20-25% in the winter and 50-55% humidity in the summer is within the tolerable range. Keep in mind that this is a measure for the whole year, not just a week or month.
If such a condition persists, then we would call it suitable.
But if the humidity levels are higher than the amount we are talking about here, then the possibilities of a deviation is imminent. And that is a sign of intolerable or uneasy weather conditions.
What happens now?
You are running a portable air conditioner under such high humidity conditions, then there is a possibility that your portable air conditioner will shutdown automatically.
One major reason behind this is the rapid filling of the water reservoir.
The interior water reservoir doesn’t usually fill up that quickly. But under extreme conditions, it may fill up quicker than you’d expect.
Draining the excess fluid: Short-term and Long-term Methods
If you are facing such a problem, then you are probably wondering about your options.
You have two ways to tackle the situation. The first is a short-term approach.
The Short-term Approach
This is a quick method for draining excess fluid.
Step one: Find a bucket
Find a suitable bowl or bucket that can hold the excess water. If you have the facilities, you could just drain it without them.
But we would recommend draining in a controlled way.
Step two: Find the drain port
You may want to consult the manual for this step.
Each vendor will certainly offer guidelines to access the drain port in a meaningful way.
Step three: Open the port and empty the reservoir
All you need to do now is empty the reservoir by opening the port. Again, try and do so in a controlled manner so that water doesn’t spill all over the place.
The Long-term approach: To remedy the problem entirely
The long-term approach is enough to maintain the operational integrity of your portable air conditioner.
Step one: Find a suitable drain port
You need to find a suitable drain port that will fit the drain port on your air conditioner.
You can find this at any local hardware store near you. But finding the right fit may need a bit more looking.
Step two: Attach the two ports
Now you have to attach the drain port to the air conditioner port.
Step three: Add a water-tight hose to the end
Fit a suitable hose at the end of the drain port. The length of the hose will constitute the length of the drainage endpoint.
Step four: Set the drain hose to the drainage location
Finally, you have to locate a safe spot for drainage and place the end of the drain hose.
This will ensure that any excess water will be drained through the port immediately. So, you won’t have to fiddle with the water reservoir anymore.
The remedy to portable air conditioner not evaporating water does have certain remedies. We did show them to you.
But the matter at hand is, which solution is more effective.
It’s a long-term option.
Even if you are cool with draining the water on a regular basis, the long-term solution effectively removes that hassle. So, you don’t need to spend time on emptying the water reservoir and deal with automatic shut-downs.
