1. Fix it
Eyeshadow can be fused back together with just rubbing alcohol, a spoon, and a little time. I tried it- worked perfectly. Find the detailed step-by-step tutorial on Angela Hix.

2. Eye gloss
If you don't have time to fix your broken eyeshadow, but still want to use it on your eyes, eye gloss is the way to go. Just mix baby oil and crushed eyeshadow, apply with a brush and you're done. Find the how-to on Lulu's.

3. Nail polish
Create your own nail polish in just a few seconds with clear nail polish, crushed eyeshadow, a toothpick and a piece of paper. Super easy, super quick. Find the DIY on Delighted Momma.

4. Eyeliner
If you've been lucky in your misfortune and broke an eyeshadow of a color that would look nice as an eyeliner, you only need some baby oil to give it a new life! See the tutorial on WikiHow.

5. Lip gloss
Make your own tinted lip gloss in two minutes using only vaseline and crushed eyeshadow. Couldn't be easier! Find the how-to on Wonder Forest. Edit: it's been brought to my attention in the comments that some eyeshadows aren't safe for the lips. Read the labels of the products to be used, or here is a helpful link on that subject.
I hope you won't break all your eyeshadows like I did, but if that inopportunely happens to you, please consider the alternatives before tossing them :)
Not all eyeshadow ingredients are safe to use on the lips.
ReplyDeleteGreat post! I wanna try it all… but have only one grey broken eyeshadow. Won't work well on my lips! ;P
ReplyDeleteThese are super great alternatives! While I hope I don't break my eyeshadows, if I do I'll be referring back to this post!

Lovely Notions
Crazy! I didn't know you could do so much with eyeshadow. I especially love idea #2 and #5. Great tips, hun. :D

I knew about the lipgloss but didn't realize you could do so much more with eye shadow. Love this post.

Although some eyeshadows aren't safe to be used on the lips! Using broken eyeshadows as nail polishes is awesome though, I've tried it before :)

Great tips! ♥ Thanks for sharing, I can't believe I thought there was no hope for my broken up eye shadow.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments! I'm so glad these ideas might be helpful to you.
ReplyDelete@Izzi and Anonymous: You're right, thanks for pointing that out. I updated the post to mention that!
This is wonderful! I shall have to bring some make-up back from the dead using these tricks...thanks, lady :)
ReplyDeleteThis is neat. Rubbing alcohol can also be used on blushes. I've tried it and it works wonders. See this easy post for a tutorial: Fix Broken Make-up
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing all these tips. I never knew you can do so much with broken eye shadow. I love the eyegloss idea.
I really love the first method and I use it quite often, except that I use makeup fixing spray instead of rubbing alcohol to fix the powder. I even "break" the eyeshadows intentionally to mix them or transfer them to another pallete :) and then just pour (not spray onto!) enough liquid to moist the powder well and gently mix with a toothpick/needle, let dry and tadam! the (eye)shadows are back in shape and even adhere better :)
ReplyDeleteThinner the tool you use to mix, less powder you lose :D
Or, if you're not affraid of using loose eyeshadow, just transfer the powder in a small container with a good closure and that will make it travel safe :) (you probably know those small clear round boxes with screw cap used for nail embellishments...)
Thanks for all these tips Ally! Good to know!
DeleteThis makes me want to break most of my eye shadows,I can't even begin to describe how excited I am about this. I bet it won't take long before I'll get my hands dirty with eye shadow.
ReplyDeleteMy first thought for what I would do is mix it with some kind of medium and use it as paint on paper. LOL. It never occurred to me to make another beauty product with it, but these are all great tips. Since I don't wear much eye shadow I only have one palette of them. I will give the nail polish solution a try next time though, it sounds really interesting.
ReplyDeletethanks for sharing!! these are awesome ideas. I know I have some eyeshadow just lying around.
ReplyDeleteThose are some great ideas.

Shirocosmetics.com has a great selection of loose eyeshadow colors, and a whole bunch of them are lip-safe :)
