Confession: I don't drink alcohol. As much as I love the idea of sipping a glass of good red wine with homemade antipasti, I just don't like the taste. I'm trying to educate my palate, and can now appreciate a nice champagne or an icy-cold mojito... But still, I'd rather have something non alcoholic.
It's my birthday today, and while I don't want to force myself to drink something I don't like, I also want to be able to have a festive drink, and share it with my friends. Since I can't be the only person on earth who dislike alcohol, I thought I'd share the results of my search for recipes for delicious, refreshing, festive, non alcoholic drinks. Plus, they can easily be adapted to suit alcoholic drinks lovers as well!

1. Lavender Lemonade from Against All Grain
2. Sparkling Iced Tea Basil Limeade from USMasala (Edit: this blog is now open to invited readers only, but you can still access the recipe from this link.)
3. Watermelon Lemonade from Fearless Homemaker
4. White Peach-Lavender Soda from Emma Christensen
5. Watermelon Breeze from Skirt (photo by Kelsey Marie)

6. Orange and Mint Spritzer from Shop Cook Make
7. Roasted Peach Lemonade from The Naptime Chef
8. Sparkling Strawberry Lemonade from Eat Drink Love
9. Blueberry Mint Iced Tea from Brooklyn Atlas
10. Ginger Basil Grapefruit Spritzer from Joylicious
Oh, and rimming the glasses with some colorful rimming sugar would be the cherry on the cake.
Happy sipping!
And I was thinking whether Clemence will update us with cool summer juices, now that this is a trend too. You did indeed and they look cool too!
ReplyDeleteAlso, sorry for the spamming, but a seriously great Amazon giveaway happens to take place here!
Haha I know, but they look amazing, and the ones I tried were delicious!
DeleteThank you SO much for posting this! Being a Muslim, I don't drink alcohol either and I've been looking for some really nice and simple yet beautifully looking and exotic refreshments that are non-alcoholic, but it felt like everything that sounded exotic and looked beautiful contained alcohol! And if the alcohol was removed, the rest of the ingredients just sounded a bit boring... So I'm REALLY pleased that you shared this! :-)
ReplyDeleteAnd I'll definitely share this with my other muslim friends and readers on my blog! :-)
Thank you Aysha! I'm so glad to hear that this post will be helpful to you and your muslim friends. I tried some of these and they looked beautiful and tasted delicious :)

Thank you McKenna Lou!
DeleteHappy birthday to you Clemence! We currently have a lot of gals pregnant within our group. It's nice to be able to offer them a pretty and tasty mock-tail at party time. Especially love that last one- presented so beautifully. Who wouldn't want a sip of that?
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Erin! I'd definitely want a sip of that last one too.
DeleteHappy birthday sweet Clemence! Hopefully someday we meet in real life and I can treat you to a delicious non-alcoholic beverage in the rolling hills of SF :) xx
ReplyDeleteThank you Audrey! Looking forward to that day :)
DeleteVery nice, thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, just remembered this really good summer drink I had the other day, you should try it - it had pear juice, ginger syrup and fizzy water. It was perfect for a hot summer day! xx
ReplyDeleteHa, sounds delicious! The simple evocation of pear juice makes my mouth water. As soon as the sun is back here (fingers crossed), I'm trying it!
DeleteThank you so much for sharing this! I have never really been interested in drinking alcohol - I have nothing against it, like you, I just don't like the taste. So this post was perfect! If you haven't tried it, I highly recommend a Moscato? It's a desert wine - and very sweet and tastes NOTHING like alcohol! If you are open to trying, I think you'd like it! Many brands make moscato - even the SkinnyGirl brand just came out with their own! It's an easy wine to share if among friends and you don't want to drink a "real" wine :) Take care!
ReplyDeleteI've never tried a Moscato, but your description of it makes me eager to try it. Thank you for the suggestion!
DeleteYour second link, for Sparkling Iced Tea Basil Limeade is an invite only blog. Now, I might never be able to find out about that drink.
