I love the idea of converting your handwriting into a font. Signing an email with your own font would add a great personal touch. Or it could be useful to people who make digital scrapbooking, or want to personalize their photos or blog posts with a handwritten note. Fontifier allows you to create your own font by simply printing a template and filling it in with the letters of the alphabet, and then scanning and uploading it. I have not tried it, but it sounds fun to me!
Edit: In the comments, Chloe W. suggested My Script Font. It provides the same service as Fontifier, but it's free!

ReplyDeletepilothandwriting.com has this also. It's by the pilot pen company. Very cool though. I'll have to try this one out.
ReplyDeletepilot does it but you can't buy it for download! that's the genius of it.
ReplyDeleteAre you kidding? I am so all over this!
ReplyDeleteIf you have a scanner...you can do this for free yourself. Its really not terribly hard.
ReplyDeleteThere are also free services to do it for you if you'd rather.
Hey, how do you do this?
Deleteok anonymous... point us in the right direction... :)
ReplyDeleteI imagine you could try Inkscape after scanning, but I'm not sure where to go from there. You could try asking someone from the Inkscape blogs.
Deletesounds wonderful, might just try this!

ReplyDeleteHi Maya,
DeleteThe company I linked to when I wrote this post seems to be down. I updated the link - another company called Fontifier (http://www.fontifier.com) offers the same service.

DeleteOur site was down for 8 days (our domain was pirated!) - sorry ;( - We are back up though! We also have an online app that lets you create online "handwritten letters" using your own created font or a generic handwritten font. Do check it out!
